Companies House has announced a revised fee structure that will take effect from 1 February 2026, marking one of the most significant updates to its charges in recent years. While a small number of fees are decreasing, many of the most frequently used filings will see substantial increases making it essential for businesses, advisers, and company secretaries to understand the new landscape.

Key changes at a glance

  • Incorporation (standard software filing): Increasing from £50 to £100
  • Incorporation (same day software filing): Increasing from £78 to £156
  • Confirmation Statement (software filing): Increasing from £34 to £50
  • Voluntary strike off (digital): Decreasing from £33 to £13

Importantly, incorporation fees will now double, and Confirmation Statement fees will rise by around 33%, both significant changes that businesses should plan for.

Why these changes are being introduced

Key drivers behind the fee changes include:

  • Strengthened identity verification requirements
  • Enhanced powers to combat economic crime and fraudulent activity
  • Improved digital systems and cybersecurity
  • Increased scrutiny and validation of company information

The revised fees will help fund these upgrades, ensuring that Companies House remains a reliable and trusted source of corporate information.

Practical implications for businesses

While the increases may seem modest when viewed individually, their cumulative impact could be significant, particularly for organisations that manage multiple entities or for professional advisers working with a portfolio of clients.

Businesses may wish to:

  • Review compliance budgets for 2026 onwards
  • Update internal procedures, checklists, and client price lists
  • Plan incorporations strategically ahead of February 2026
  • Consider whether dormant or inactive companies should be closed before or after the fee changes
