HMRC is changing the way the import of goods from outside the UK is processed from 1 October 2022.
You may have received letters or emails from HMRC and/or your import agents about signing up for the new Customs Declaration Service (“CDS”)but don’t know what to do. We have written a handy step-by-step guide to signing up to CDS.
If you import goods from outside the UK, it is essential that you sign up for CDS and authorise your agents before 30 September 2022, otherwise you will not be able to import goods into the UK. This will lead to delays at the border or could mean that your goods are sent back to the supplier, incurring further costs for you.
