Less than a month after he announced additional support for jobs and businesses in his the Winter Economy plan, The Chancellor has today conceded that it wasn’t enough and increased the Government’s support.

The Job Support Scheme, which replaces the Job Retention Scheme on 1st November, is now available to those working only 20% of their normal hours (previously 33%) and employers contribution to wages for the hours not worked reduces to only 5% (where previously it was 33.3%).

In the Self Employed Income Support Scheme which in September was extended for 6 months, grants have been doubled from 20% of profits to 40% up to a maximum of £3,750.
