Ruth Corkin, our VAT and indirect tax Principal has been appointed to HMRC’s Land and Property Liaison Group as one of two representatives of the ICAEW.
The Land and Property Liaison Group is a sub-group of the Joint VAT Consultative Committee, where Ruth Corkin sits as a representative of the Vat Practitioners Group.
The Joint VAT Consultative Committee is an HMRC-sponsored forum allowing the exchange of views between HMRC and industry relating to the procedures and operations of VAT. It allows industry and HMRC to discuss VAT issues arising with the aim of strengthening HMRC’s understanding of the needs of the business customer/taxpayer.
The Land and Property Liaison Group will discuss issues facing the property and construction industries, with Ruth being one of two representatives from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) sitting on the group.
Ruth Corkin said: “Hillier Hopkins has a large client base of property developers, investors, professional landlords, and construction companies and understands the issues and challenges they face. By joining this panel, we can make sure their voice is heard at the highest levels and we can share with our clients insights from HMRC.”
