Richard raised over £16,000 in sponsorship for the Marie Curie Research Wing at Mount Vernon Hospital in Rickmansworth by playing 80 holes of golf in a day.
“I’ve been overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity,” says Richard. “A big thank you also goes to the many clients, colleagues and friends that braved the weather and came out to support me on the day.”
Hillier Hopkins celebrates 80-years in business this year and Mr Malone wanted to mark his firm’s achievement by playing a hole for each year and for the benefit of a local hospital. “As someone with a relative who has been treated there it’s great to be able to do something positive for this very worthwhile charity” says Richard.
The Marie Curie Research Wing has an international reputation in radiotherapy research. The unit supports a team of healthcare professionals caring for patients in clinical trials in prostate, bladder, head and neck, and breast cancer. “We are extremely grateful for Richard’s fundraising efforts,” says Dr Catherine Lemon, a consultant at Mount Vernon. “To complete 80 holes of golf in one day is a huge challenge. Donations like this help us to continue our research to improve the success of cancer treatment and reduce treatment side effects. We would like to thank everyone who has donated so generously.”
Hillier Hopkins would like to thank the secretary and staff at Porters Park for hosting the event and all our sponsors and players for their generous support: Asphaltic, Prism, Warrant Securities, Try Properties, Handlesbanken, WGC Metals, Brasier Freeth, SA Law, The Greyhound Inn, JSM, Pannell Properties, Rieves, Practice Engine, Select Veneers, Connor Construction, Cavendish Group, Procare Building Services, Boundary Fencing, Loxwood, Beaumont Forest Products, PB Donoghue, Lewis Ellis, Pearce Recycling, John Whiteman & Co., Andcombe Estates, Groveway Ventures, Evoke Supplies.
