If you move goods from Great Britain to Northern Ireland and are authorised under the United Kingdom Internal Market Scheme (UKIMS), you should now be able to access your Trader Goods Profile (TGP).

What is the Trader Goods Profile (TGP)?

The TGP is designed to prepopulate your customs declarations. This means that instead of manually entering all the details for each shipment, the TGP will automatically fill in most of the required fields. Typically, you will only need to input a few specific details such as net and gross weights, value, and supplementary units if applicable. This automation significantly reduces the administrative burden on businesses, allowing for smoother and faster processing of goods.

Setting up your TGP

For those authorised under UKIMS before 19 June 2024, HMRC has taken the initiative to prepopulate your TGP using data from your previous 12 months of movements to Northern Ireland. This means that your profile is ready to use, saving you time and effort.

However, if you were authorised after 19 June 2024, your TGP will be blank. In this case, you will need to set up your profile manually. This involves entering the necessary data to ensure your customs declarations can be prepopulated accurately. It’s crucial to complete this setup before the Windsor Framework rules come into force on 31 March 2025. If you don’t, you may find that your goods are sent to the red lane and incur additional checks and duties.

Act soon to avoid potential delays and costs

The Windsor Framework aims to facilitate the smooth movement of goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland while ensuring that the necessary checks and balances are in place. By setting up your TGP correctly and ensuring all required information is accurate, you can avoid potential delays and additional costs. Stay proactive, seek support if needed, and make the most of the resources available to navigate this transition successfully.

If you need support with this, HMRC has guidance on their website and our customs declarations team can also assist – contact them on the details below.
