Ed is an ICAEW‑qualified valuation specialist who leads Hillier Hopkins’ valuation practice, advising SMEs across multiple sectors on complex commercial, tax and strategic matters, and is recognised for his expertise in equity and intangible asset valuations.

Ed is qualified with the ICAEW as a valuation specialist with extensive experience advising SMEs and owner-managed businesses across a wide range of sectors. With a career beginning in 2008, he trained in audit before moving into advisory roles, developing deep expertise in helping business owners navigate commercial, tax and strategic decision-making.

As Head of Valuation Services at Hillier Hopkins, Ed leads the firm’s specialist valuation practice, acting on commercial, matrimonial and shareholder disputes and undertaking valuations for tax, reorganisations and financial reporting purposes under UK GAAP and IRFS. He also advises UK individuals holding share options in US-based companies and is recognised for his technical strength in complex equity and tangible asset valuations.

Ed’s work is grounded in long-standing relationships with SMEs, particularly across the construction, land and property, recruitment and professional services sectors. He is valued for providing clear, practical and commercially focused advice that helps business owners understand value, negotiate transactions, manage risk and plan for succession.

His valuation expertise has been formally recognised through the award of the BVIUK Accredited Designation and is a current member of the BVIUK Future Directions in Business Valuations Board, contributing to the development of valuation standards and professional practice.
